Mesona palustris BL: the potential antioxidant

Abstract

Mesona palustris, also known as ‘Black Cincau’ was a plant that was commonly found in East and South East Asian countries. Recently, interest in these Mesona palustris components, such as antioxidants. It can reduce the damage in the cellular aspect either by quenching free radicals or through the chelation of transition metal ions, which reduces their capability to form reactive oxygen species. M.palutris can be composed of more nutraceutical options, including edible jellies. Some previous studies investigated the effective and beneficial extraction process of M. palustris to elucidate the chemical constituents of M.palustris. This plant is also known to have some phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids and tannins. Nowadays, it has been reported to yield many thrilling studies as an antioxidant.
